George I Burr Walnut Bureau Bookcase

Fine George I Burr Walnut Bureau Bookcase. The well figured cavetto moulded cornice above a pair of bevelled and scalloped mirrored doors enclosing an interior of adjustable shelves.

The lower half in two sections, split by a dividing cross grained waist moulding, with double feather banded fall opening to reveal an arrangement of drawers, pigeon holes and central architectural cupboard flanked on either side by two gilded secret pillar drawers and a black leather writing surface.

Below two short over three long graduated burr walnut and oak lined drawers, fitted with brass plate handles. A truly wonderful piece, exuding quality both in its construction, size and choice of veneers.

Excellent colour and patination.
